Farrey, directed by Soumendra Padhi and starring Alizeh Agnihotri, Sahil Mehta, Prasanna Bisht, and Zeyn Shaw, will be released in theatres on November 24th, 2023.
Niyati (Alizeh Agnihotri) is a gifted teenager who lives in an orphanage with numerous other females. Her exceptional result in the 10th board examinations earns her a scholarship to one of the city’s most prestigious universities. Aakash (Sahil Mehta) is the other impoverished student who receives a full scholarship to college. Niyati befriends Chhavi (Prasanna Bisht) as the former helps the latter answer a math issue in class, saving her from shame.

As a result, she joins a select group of pupils from privileged backgrounds. Things get worse for Niyati when she is asked to cheat and assist the wealthier pupils in exams in exchange for the money she needs. The following story demonstrates Niyati’s willingness to deceive and help her ‘friends’.
Farrey is incredibly interesting and riveting from beginning to end. The film is direct and does not waste any time arguing. It sheds light on India’s class disparity, which frequently exploits the impoverished. It also mocks the broken education system in premium schools, where the educational institution cannot do much about the notorious kids because they rely on them for annual donations. It goes into great detail regarding where the idea of cheating comes from, which is usually the pressure that parents put on their children through comparisons to their bright older siblings or others.
Farrey features multiple situations that will make your heart race and keep you on the edge of your seat, particularly the examination scenes in Sydney, Australia. The story is told in a unique and effective manner. Adolescents’ innocence with a sense of oversmartness has been conveyed in a very realistic way. The combative moment between Niyati and Aakash, followed by the orphanage warden (Ronit Roy) at the close of the film, punched me hard in the gut.
It may be Alizeh Agnihotri’s debut picture, but she comes across as a seasoned actor in complete command of her art. She gives a spectacular performance that will be remembered for all the right reasons in the years to come. Sahil Mehta as Aakash is fantastic. His character develops throughout the film, along with the increasing action. He is definitely an actor to watch out for. Keep a watchful eye. Prasanna Bisht as Chhavi is completely convincing as the affluent, deceitful teenager who relies on Niyati to pass her exams.
Farrey is a highly recommended film, especially for those who haven’t seen Bad Genius. Among all the fantastic things in the picture, what impresses the spectator the most is how wisely the film ends, with not everyone suffering the consequence for their wrongdoing, resulting in smart foreshadowing; or, perhaps, that is how life is.
