A unified Employment Notification for the position of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) has been released by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), which are part of the Government of the Ministry of Railways, in order to fill 5696 positions across India. Candidates for the position of Assistant Loco Pilot must be citizens of India and have completed at least their ITI and Matriculation. Railway ALP Notification 2024:
On January 20, 2024, the Indian Railways published a preliminary announcement in the Employment News Paper for 5696 Assistant Loco Pilot openings across all Railway Recruitment Boards. The RRB ALP 2024 registration period commenced on January 20, 2024, and the application deadline was February 19, 2024. A computer-based test will be used to make the initial selection.

On January 20, 2024, job hunters are pushing for more Indian Railway Assistant Loco Pilot positions, as per the trends on Twitter (रेलवे भर्ती, Increase RRB ALP Vacancy). The increase in RRB ALP Vacancies is also supported by the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA). The association wants to draw attention to the fact that there are 16,373 open positions in the Loco Running Staff Category as of December 2023, according to AILRSA’s letter to the Ministry of Railways.
RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Salary:
- Railway RRBs Recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot Pay Level is Level-2, Initial Pay ₹ 19,900/- per month.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit:
- Minimum 18 years
- Maximum 30 years
- Age limit as on 1st July 2024
- The Upper Age relaxation – 05 years for SC / ST, 03 years for OBC (NCL) and others as per rules
Educational Qualifications:
- The following trades are required of candidates: Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic. (SSLC plus ITI). As an alternative, course completion and apprenticeship in the aforementioned trades along with matriculation or SSLC are also allowed.
- A three-year diploma in mechanical, electrical, electronics, or automobile engineering, or a mix of several streams of these engineering disciplines from an accredited university, can be obtained in place of an ITI through matriculation or SSLC.
- Note: In addition, a degree from one of the engineering programmes listed above may be used in place of an engineering diploma.

How to Apply
- Only one Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) may accept applications from eligible individuals, and only one online application must be filed. Prior to taking this CEN, candidates must ‘Create an Account’ using the provided link on the official RRB website.
- In order for the Candidates to get OTPs for account creation and verification, they need to have a working personal cellphone number and a valid email address. Candidates should use any of the RRB websites to apply for RRB ALP 2024 after making an account.
- Uploading a scanned copy of a current, clear, passport-size photo, signature, SC/ST certificate, etc. is required of the candidates. Subsequently, applicants need to pay the application cost online.
- During the Modification Window, which runs from February 20 to February 29, 2024, applicants can modify or change their information after submitting their online application in its final form.
The online application must be submitted by Monday, February 19, 2024, at 23:59 hours.
